Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how RockHoundR collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile application, website, maps, data layers, and related services (the "Service"). If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Service.

Highlights

  • RockHoundR is a location-based field planning app, so map, location, spot, line, and route-planning features may use precise coordinates.
  • Your saved spots, notes, favorites, and lines are used to provide the Service and sync your account. We do not sell your personal information.
  • Some map, weather, geology, authentication, crash reporting, app store, and infrastructure features depend on third-party providers.
  • Current and planned features include rock identification, spot photos, and personal rock collections, so photos and related details you submit may be processed and saved for those features.
  • You can control location access through your device settings. Some app features may not work without location permission.

1. Who We Are

The Service is operated by Ruby Glint Co., Ltd., doing business as RockHoundR ("RockHoundR," "we," "us," or "our").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and Profile Information

When you create or use an account, we may collect:

  • Email address and authentication identifiers
  • Information received from sign-in providers, such as Apple or Google
  • Account status, app settings, and support communications

If you use guest mode, data may be stored locally or under an anonymous account. Guest data may be lost if you uninstall the app, clear device data, or switch devices before linking an account.

2.2 Location and Map Information

RockHoundR may collect or process location-related information such as:

  • GPS location when you permit the app to access it
  • Map center, tapped coordinates, and searched areas
  • Coordinates for saved spots, favorite spots, reports, and lines
  • Approximate location inferred from IP address or device/network data

We use this information to show your position on the map, search nearby rockhounding spots, display land and geology information, provide weather, create directions, save your field data, and improve map performance.

Personal saved content is not shared with other users unless you choose to share it, submit it publicly, or the Policy or Terms permit disclosure.

2.4 Rock Identifier and Collection Inputs

RockHoundR's current and planned photo features include rock identification, adding photos to saved spots, and creating a personal rock collection. For those features, we may collect and process photos, image metadata, labels, notes, selected location, device-provided metadata, collection entries, and other details you choose to submit. We use this information to return likely rock, mineral, or material matches; save and sync your collection and spot records; show supporting information; troubleshoot the feature; prevent abuse; and improve accuracy and product quality.

We may use de-identified, aggregated, or otherwise privacy-protective identifier, spot photo, and collection inputs to evaluate and improve these features. We do not intend to publicly display your private photos or collection records unless you choose to share them, submit them publicly, or another part of this Policy or our Terms permits disclosure.
