Edisto Beach: Megalodon Teeth Rockhounding in Colleton County, South Carolina

Edisto Beach is one of the most reliable places in South Carolina to find fossil shark teeth, including megalodon, along with Ice Age mammal bone eroding out of the offshore Pleistocene beds. The productive stretch runs north of the pier and toward the southwest point where the South Edisto River meets the Atlantic, concentrating fossils in the shell hash at the tide line. It is a state park with easy walk-on beach access, which makes it the most beginner-friendly fossil beach in the Lowcountry. Reported finds include megalodon teeth.
