The crinoidal hash is fully replaced by grey to bluish chalcedonic chert, and agate and chalcedony travel the same river gravels. Fossils are collectible by the bucket along the low-water shoreline in late fall, giving northwest Alabama a Paleozoic fossil ground unlike the Piedmont and Coastal Plain sites farther south.
