About The Willows Gemfields

Willows Gemfields is a small township on designated fossicking land south of the Capricorn Highway, about 69 km west of Emerald at the western edge of the Central Queensland gemfields. Sapphires here are predominantly greens and yellows, with blues rare, and zircon and the occasional diamond have also been recorded. Wash depths range from under 500 mm in shallow ground near the township to about 2 m in the northern part of the Duffer area, and blackbutt trees growing on the wash serve as a local marker. The township has a shop, post office, fuel, water and two caravan and camping areas. A Queensland fossicking licence is required.
