About Honsvall Lake
Honsvall Lake sits near the northern rim of the Athabasca Basin in far northern Saskatchewan. Geological records note gneiss and clinopyroxenite outcrops at the lake, and 2 km southwest of its south tip the Pine Channel nickel-copper anomaly is tied to narrow horizons of magnetite-quartz-garnet iron formation, pyritic iron formation and norite sills within garnet metagneisses. Garnet is well documented in the country rocks around the lake. This is remote Canadian Shield terrain known through mineral exploration rather than an established collecting locality.
